Kat!e's Bio

Kat!e's literary career began on December 29, 1993, when her parents named her "Kathryn" after Shakespeare's heroine in The Taming of the Shrew. Born to a sci-fi-novel-writing dad and a poetry-writing mum, Kat!e was doomed from the start and has been writing ever since.

With the help of computer games and overly-enthusiastic parents, Kat!e learned to read at four years of age. However, she had already been writing stories long before that -- dictating them to her four-year-older brother. A series Kat!e is working on now has been a work-in-progress for near on fourteen years.

In fifth grade, Kat!e wrote -- and did little else. Every day, she would come home from school and write. This led to the completion of her very first novel that same year. After that, nothing could stop her, and she proceeded to crank out rubbish novel after rubbish novel. She has now reached her 13th and has decided that it is high time she start editing one of these rubbish novels and knocking of the title "rubbish."

Kat!e does have other interests besides writing -- though they tend to take a back seat to her chosen craft. Her Shakespearian name also led her to the stage -- where she has played parts like Queen Titania and Lady Macbeth, and mourned the higher popularity of musicals over plays.

Refusing to be conventional, Kat!e dropped out of High School ... with the intent of taking the GED and getting into college. Before that, Kat!e went to charter school, moved in with her grandparents to go to a different charter school, and did half a year of online school -- all of which has been great fodder for her novels.

Now that she is free from the constraints of High School, Kat!e spends most of her time writing... and watching Hogan's Heroes, Leverage, and, of course, Doctor Who.

Bad Wolf.

Jane Eyre (I have to stop and say that I loathe and detest this cover, it being all too reminiscent of that stupid vampire book, but it was the only one I could find. Please go out of your way to find a different copy to buy, one that stays true to the feel of such a classic novel.)
