This is The Society of Literacy and Bananas! Association! We are a group of writers aiming to do a podcast by teens, for teens (or any age of writer, for that matter). Below are our most recent 'casts -- for past updates, please check out the Archives. Feel free to contact us with show ideas, personal stories, an answer to our weekly challenge, or just to tell us you love us ^_^

Episode 2 -- Finishing

This is the FIRST podcast of The Society of Literacy and Bananas! Association (yes, I know it shows up as Episode 2 ... it's a long story -- which I would tell you, but it's dull and completely lacking in muffins, so you'll just have to take my word that there is a good reason.)
Hopefully that didn't confuse anyone. Also, to avoid confusion, I have to explain that the term "Barrel of Monkeys" (which we use in our 'cast) means that the topic we just brought up is too big for the current 'cast (and is probably totally off-topic) and so deserves a 'cast of its own.

That out of the way...

In This Episode:

Kat!e discovers an obsession with The Monkees (there will not usually be a random musical interlude, but we just had to include it... that song makes me happy ^_^)

We talk about our amazing experience at THE Teen Writing Conference (which takes place in Ogden, Utah every summer)

We admit our obsession with Phineas and Ferb

Kat!e and Canada geek out over Star Trek

Kat!e suggests NaNoWriMo -- join her in literary suicide this November!

Canada fawns over Hunger Games

We admit that everything we do is totally stolen from Writing Excuses

About Us

We are The Society of Literacy and Bananas! Association ~ a teen writing group that began in Kat!e's basement. One day, Kat!e, Canada, and Tina realized that their favorite thing to do when they all got together was write -- and a lot of their friends felt the same. One thing led to another, and now we have bi-weekly meetings where we write, talk about writing, eat snacks, and generally goof off.

One meeting, we all sat down to listen to Brandon Sanderson, Howard Taylor, and Dan Wells's podcast Writing Excuses, and it occurred to us that we had enough to say to fill a podcast. And, though Writing Excuses does an AMAZING job at giving us advice on writing, we figured it would be cool to do a show from a teen viewpoint.

A few months later (hey, we're teens, we're easily distracted), Kat!e, Canada, and Tina sat down to record the first episode. Hooray!

Oh, and We have to give a HUGE shout-out to Kat!e's mother, Whit Larson, who has helped with ... well, everything, not to mention putting up with us hanging out in her basement.
